Town of River Falls: ATV law OK'd for 2012
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

The lack of public objections regarding all-terrain-vehicle users on 720th Avenue has allowed the River Falls Town Board to approve continued usage there.

A new law for 2012 was approved at the Nov. 7 regular board meeting.

The temporary trial use of 720th by ATVs last summer has expired. The new law will take effect on May 1. Any ATV use until then is prohibited.

Since the use of 720th Avenue for ATVs has resulted in no problems or complaints, the board approved expanding ATV access to roads on 800th, 925th and 920th.

The Pierce County ATV club will be responsible for erecting and maintaining signs in the approved areas.

The Town Board also approved the fire inspection law allowing those needing fire inspections to get one inspection per year with no more than 15 months separating the inspections.

The board awarded Associated Assessing a three-year contract to do the town assessing. Town Board Supervisor Brad Mogen felt it "...owed it to the citizens to work with some who was responsive."

Town Board Chairwoman Diana Smith noted, "The town has been happy with them in the past."

In other town news:

--The town received the mosquito abatement information and permit fee from Somerset Auto Salvage, W9880 710th St.

--A final bill from Doug Peterson for foundation upgrade at the Town Hall was received. Smith would like a final walkthrough prior to issuing a check.

--A budget meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Town Hall.
