Camping Ordinance
Purpose:
The purpose of this ordinance is to prohibit camping on real property owned by the Town of Trenton.
Definitions:
Camp or Camping - The use of a shelter such as a Tent, Camping Trailer, Camping Unit, Motor Home, Motor Vehicle, Tarpaulin, or Sleeping Bag, or any similar object used for temporary residence or overnight sleeping purposes.
Authority:
The Town Board of Trenton Township has the specific authority under Wis. Stat. §60.27 and Village Powers under Wis. Stat. §61.35 to adopt and enforce this ordinance.
PROHIBITIONS:
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to camp, place, or permit to be placed any type of device or object used for camping on real property owned by the Town of Trenton. There shall be no overnight camping on real property owned by the Town of Trenton.
Penalty Provisions:
Any person or persons that fails to comply with the provisions of this Ordinance shall upon conviction pay a forfeiture of $100.00. In addition, upon conviction the person or persons will pay any and all enforcement costs, including any attorney fees incurred in enforcing this ordinance.
Severability Clause:
If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any person or circumstances is held invalid, the invalidity does not affect other provisions or applications of this ordinance that can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are severable.
Effective Date:
This ordinance shall be effective upon adoption by the Town Board and publication as required by law.
