Trial period for music at Ellsworth area vineyard entertainment venue approved
EL PASO, Wis.--After a site visit Wednesday, Pierce County Land Management Committee members approved a trial period for music at Vino in the Valley in the Town of El Paso.
The use of audio enhancement equipment at the vineyard, which features outdoor dining and entertainment events, will be allowed at sound levels not to exceed 80 decibels for 30 days beginning with the coming season's operation, Land Management Administrator/Planner Andy Pichotta said Thursday.
"I believe the first event is to be on May 15," Pichotta said about the start of the trial period.
Further committee assessment of the music aspect is possible once the period ends, he said. Meantime, owner Larry Brenner will be responsible for investigating potential containment measures to lessen the impact of the sound.
Committee members were at the pavilion used for dining on Brenner's property and heard music played at a level considered ideal for that site, Pichotta said. They then went to four or five different locations around the property as the music was being tried at a variety of sound levels.
"They got a better understanding of the lay of the land," he said, admitting, "it was a bit windier than we'd expected."
