Twins to move Mauer to first base next season
MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Twins say star player Joe Mauer will become the team's first baseman next season.
The long-time catcher suffered a concussion on August 19th of last season and missed the remainder of the Twins' schedule. The team and Mauer consulted with doctors from the Mayo Clinic and concluded the best interest of Joe Mauer was to remove him from the inherit risk of everyday catching. The team reports Mauer is now symptom-free from the concussion and has already begun his usual off-season training with no restrictions.
He has played in 56 career games at first base, committing four errors in 536 total fielding chances.
