Two men die in Lake Wapogasset boating accident
Two men who drowned in a northwest Wisconsin boating accident have been identified as Travis Foss, 27, of rural Amery and Joshua Meline, 28, of Deer Park.
Polk County authorities said their boat overturned early Thursday morning on Lake Wapogasset.
Meline's 19-year-old girlfriend was said to be sleeping during the mishap and she woke up in the water, swam 20 minutes to shore, walked a mile to a house where she called a friend, and then notified authorities.
They were called about 3:30 a.m. State and local rescuers combed the lake and found the two victims seven hours later in 24-feet of water.
The 14-foot boat was submerged by then.
