U women's hockey team shuts out UMD 6-0

MINNEAPOLIS - The No. 1 ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team overwhelmed the University of Minnesota-Duluth 6-0 in the final WCHA regular season series for both squads Friday evening at Ridder Arena.

Maryanne Menefee scored three times for the hat trick and had an assist for the Golden Gophers while teammate Sarah Davis scored twice. Meghan Lorence had a goal and an assist and Hannah Brandt had two assists. Winning goalie Amanda Leveille made 18 saves. Minnesota outshot UMD 40-18.

The series concludes this afternoon at 4:07 p.m. at Ridder Arena.
