Unresponsive Minnesota man plucked from below Swinging Bridge, jailed for drug use
River Falls police arrested an 18-year-old Brooklyn Center man for drug possession after a couple found him passed out on rocks next to a pile of vomit by the waterfall not far from Glen Park’s Swinging Bridge Sunday evening, May 18.
The young, disoriented man was hard to wake. The couple half-dragged him up to the park’s pedestrian bridge.
By the time officers arrived, the man was in and out of consciousness. An ambulance was summoned.
While being taken to the hospital, EMTs said a baggy of pot fell from the man’s pants waistline. Later he spoke about using an hallucinogenic drug.
In the hospital emergency room, the man was uncooperative and swearing loudly in front of other patients.
He was finally cleared medically and taken to Pierce County Jail in Ellsworth.
--Arrested a 21-year-old local man for drunk driving before 3 a.m. Saturday, May 17, in the area of Main and Division streets.
He allegedly almost collided with a squad car and almost ran down some fearful pedestrians who flagged an officer for help.
The man, said to be speeding, was pulled over after turning onto County Road MM from North Main Street. A pursuing officer said the man hit the curb while turning by Walgreens drugstore and after that nearly hit the bridge over the Kinnickinnic on MM.
When questioned, the man said he had a few “domestic beers” with friends and was heading home to where his parents live.
He was given an $811 citation with a June 25 Municipal Court date and released to the sober care of his mother.
