(Update) One-car accident with injuries south of Ellsworth

A one-car accident with injuries took place Tuesday morning off the intersection of Hwy. 63 and 320th Ave. south of Ellsworth. 

The driver, Maria Ingersoll, 18, Maiden Rock, and the passenger, Isaac Benck, 18, Ellsworth, were both transported to Red Wing Hospital with undetermined injuries.

Both Ingersoll and Benck were inside traveling southbound on Hwy. 63 and was reportedly slowing to negotiate a right-hand turn onto 320th Ave. when the vehicle's brakes failed. The white, Chevrolet compact, drove off the roadway, neary hit a Stop sign, and went down a steep embankment until it came to rest in a sunken field. The airbags on the vehicle were deployed and seatbelts were in use at the time of the crash. The car took heavy impact damage to its front end.

Personnel from Ellsworth Fire and Ellsworth Ambulance were at the accident scene along with Pierce County Sheriff's officials.
