UPDATE: Two people die in a head-on collision in Dunn County
Dunn County authorities reported two head-on vehicle collisions within an hour of one another late Friday afternoon, causing injuries and deaths.
At 5:11 a two-vehicle crash took place on Hwy. 25 just south of Menomonie. Three persons were injured in that accident.
Then at 5:44 p.m., Dunn County deputies responded to the scene of another accident, on State Highway 85, east of the village of Rock Falls. Sheriff Dennis Smith said in a news release, initial investigation determined one of the vehicles appeared to have been left of center at time of impact. Pronounced dead were Kimberley E. Kresen, 19, Eau Claire, who was driving a 2000 Toyota Corolla, and Joyce J. Dawson, 62, Rock Falls, who drove a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo.
The Wisconsin State Patrol was called to do a reconstruction of the crash. Deputies were assisted by Pepin County Sheriff's Office, Rock Creek Fire Department and Dunn County First Responders.
Both accidents remain under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff's Department.
