U.S. Cable bought by Mid-Continent Communications of South Dakota
About 33,000 cable TV customers in Wisconsin and Minnesota, including those in Ellsworth and communities along the Mississippi River from Hager City south are getting their service from a new provider.
Mid-Continent Communications of South Dakota has completed a purchase of the systems owned by U.S. Cable of New Jersey. Before the acquisition, Mid-Continent served about a quarter-million cable customers in the Dakotas and Minnesota.
Terms of the purchase were not disclosed. Mid-Continent says it's working to incorporate U.S. Cable's facilities into the new owner's system. The firm says it's also opening a call center in West Fargo, North Dakota to serve its new customers.
With the sale, Mid-Continent will be granted U.S. Cable's franchise with the Village of Ellsworth. According to Ellsworth Village Clerk Peggy Nelson says the franchise automatically transfers over to the new company as they inherit U.S. Cable's local infrastructure.
