UW-Whitewater sole WIAC No. 1 with UW-Platteville rout; other college basketball scores
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men took sole possession of first in the WIAC, with a 70-66 win at UW-Platteville Wednesday night.
Matt Goodwin made four free throws and a lay-up in the final :30 seconds, as the Warhawks, ranked second by D3Hoops.com, won their sixth straight.
UW-Whitewater is now 11-2 in the conference with three games left.
Meanwhile, 16th-ranked UW-Platteville is now a game back at 10-3, tied with UW-Stevens Point and UW-Oshkosh.
The ninth-ranked Pointers crushed UW-Eau Claire last night 89-68. UW-Stevens Point shot a season-high 63-percent and they made 72-percent in the second half. Five Pointers scored in double figures, led by Pete Rortvedt with 20.
Meanwhile, the UW-Whitewater women moved into first in the WIAC, with a 94-64 home rout of UW-Platteville. Kelsey Hendrickson scored 24, as the third-ranked Warhawks improved to 12-1.
UW-Eau Claire dropped to second place at 12-2, after the 18th-ranked Blugolds lost at UW-Stevens Point 57-43.
