PRESCOTT - The Spring Valley High School girls' cross country team and Elmwood/Plum City runner Andrew Gilles were both Pierce County winners at the Prescott Invitational meet.

The No. 9 ranked Cardinals edged out Cannon Falls, Minn. 48-50 in the team standings. Prescott was third with 61 points.

SV had all seven of its runners finish in the top 25 led Emma Gaustad's fifth place showing in 17:17, Sophie Koch's eighth in 18:12 and Pearl Davis's 10th place in 18:25.

The top county runner in the race was Prescott's Amanda Murphy as she took second in 17:04. Cannon Falls's Emi Trost won the race in 15 minutes flat.

Gilles finished first in the boys' race in 18:11 and teammate Noah Wells was second in 18:20. Their places helped EPC finish second in the boys' meet with 57 points. Cannon Falls finished first with 43 points.

Gilles becomes the first EPC runner ever to win a race.

Spring Valley's Aiden Manley and Derek Huebel were the only other county runners in the top 10. Manley was sixth in 19:24 and Huebel 10th in 20:34.
