Verna (Crow) Lifto was diagnosed with inoperable tumors in her brain earlier this year.

Now, the retired teacher's family and friends plan to support her by using their feet while showing they have a heart.

A "Walk for Verna" will be held Saturday, May 8, starting at Prairie View Elementary School in Hager City (where the retiree taught for 38 years until spring of 2009) and ending at Flat Pennies Ice Cream in Bay City, according to Lorna Ross of the ice cream shop.
