Walter Kenneth Gulbranson, 83, of Ellsworth, died Sunday, March 30, at his home.
Walter was born on July 25, 1930, in Ellsworth, the son of Sigurd and Dorothy (Jenson) Gulbranson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 until 1950. For 39 years he worked for Burlington Northern Rail Road and also painted with Roman Thom for a number of years.
Walter was a confirmed member of English Lutheran Church, and a 50+ year member of Kinne-Englehart American Legion Post, Ellsworth.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and his daily drive around Pierce County.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Neil, Sherman, Clarice, and Alice Ray Straub.
Survivors include his four children: Lynn Gulbranson, Arlington, Texas, Ken Gulbranson, Ellsworth, Wis., Dawn (Tim) Falkofske, Arlington, Texas, and Dana Gulbranson, Arlington, Texas; and two grandchildren: Adam and Andrea Falkofske. Walter is further survived by nieces; nephews; special friend Yvonne "Bibs"Johnson and dog Toto.
Funeral services for Walter will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 4, at English Lutheran Church, Ellsworth. Burial will be in Our Saviors Cemetery North. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Military honors will be accorded him by the veterans of Ellsworth.
