Webb denied state title again

Brady Webb ties up with Coleman's Chett Birr in the 112-pound final.

MADISON - For the second straight season Spring Valley-Elmwood wrestler Brady Webb was denied a WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament title.

And there was more heartbreak in this defeat as Webb lost in four overtime periods to Coleman's Chett Birr in the Division 3, 112-pound finals Saturday evening at the Kohl Center.

Webb and Birr went into the overtime tie 1-1 and the score stayed tied 1-1. But Birr was able to ride out Webb in the fourth overtime period to win by criteria.

Webb is a junior and will have won more chance next season. He finishes the 2011 season with a 33-3 record. Birr is the first opponent Webb has lost to this season from a Division 3 school.
