Weekend accidents in Pierce County send two to area hospitals
Two accidents in Pierce County over the weekend sent two men to area hospitals.
The first was discovered at around 7:20 a.m. when Pierce County Sheriff's Department deputies were investigating another complaint.
The deputies discovered that an accident had taken place at the intersection of 670th Street and 230th Avenue
According to Pierce County officials, Brandon Johnson, 24, Red Wing, was driving a 1998 Dodge pickup northbound on 670th St. when the vehicle went off the road on a curve and struck some trees.
The vehicle was then removed from the scene and taken to W6831 230th Ave.
Johnson was taken to the River Falls Area Hospital with some facial injuries where he was treated and released.
According to a statement from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, the accident is being investigated and possible charges are pending.
The second accident took place at around July 27 and involved a one car crash on 690th Street, just north of CTH V.
According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, at around 9 a.m. Courtney Miller, 16, Bay City was driving northbound on 690th Street in a 1997 Pontiac coupe when she swerved to the right to miss a deer.
The vehicle was not able to get back on the road, it then entered a ditch and then vaulted a field drive and landed in a bean field.
Miller was transported to the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center in Red Wing, Minn., complaining of back pain.
