WISCONSIN NEWS ROUND-UP: Gov. Walker to delay decision on casino until after election
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting that Governor Scott Walker will delay his decision on a proposed Kenosha casino project until November 2014.
Administration Secretary Mike Huebsch told the newspaper that attorneys and advisers may need the additional time to examine the Menominee Tribe project. A spokesman for the tribe says they’re disappointed with the rumored delay.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for most of the southern and northeastern part of the state today. The National Weather Service in Sullivan is predicting four to eight inches of snow. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reports the freezing rain before turning into snow will make for hazardous road conditions.
Authorities say a 20-year-old man wounded in a shooting over the weekend will likely survive. Madison Police were called to a southwest side neighborhood on Friday night on reports of a man being gunned down in the snow. Police say the victim’s injuries required surgery, but is considered non life-threatening. An investigation is ongoing, police have no suspects at this time.
