WISCONSIN NEWS ROUND-UP: La Crosse police say Winona woman drunk in car accident
LA CROSSE - Authorities say a woman who plunged her car through ice and drowned on New Year’s Eve was drunk at the time of the incident.
La Crosse Police say 21-year-old Ellen Ahmann – a Winona, Minnesota resident – had a blood alcohol level of point-16, twice the legal limit. Authorities say the Winona State University student plunged down a 40-foot embankment… her body was discovered in the Mississippi River the following day.
A Sheboygan County man has been hospitalized, following a morning snowmobile crash near Lyndon. Police say at around 7:00 o’clock Friday night, 29-year-old Calen Leider was driving his snowmobile through an intersection when he collided with a pickup truck. Leider was thrown from the snowmobile, which caught on fire. The driver of the pickup was uninjured, Leider was hospitalized with substantial head injuries. Police say the crash remains under investigation.
Authorities in southeastern Wisconsin are looking for thieves responsible for the theft of some valuable birds. Caledonia Police say over nine thousand dollars worth of pigeons and chickens were stolen from a Racine County home. Police say it’s the third time since December that the home has been hit by thieves, but the latest heist is the most significant.
