WISCONSIN NEWS ROUND-UP: Minnesota woman charged with robbing Menomonie bank
MADISON - A Minnesota woman is accused of robbing a Menomonie bank on Monday. 23-year-old Ranya Al-Huthaili was charged in Madison federal court on Thursday, accused of holding up the Dairy State Bank.
Authorities say she may be linked to four other bank robberies, including a hold-up in Hudson. Federal agents say Al-Huthaili used cash from the Menomonie robbery to buy a laptop.
A motorcyclist has been critically hurt in a crash yesterday afternoon in Dane County. The Dane County Sheriff’s office says the crash happened just before 5:30 on Highway 78 near Blue Mounds. Authorities say an SUV turned in front of the eastbound motorcycle, striking the victim. The crash is still under investigation and the identity of the victim has not been released.
Wisconsin U.S. Representative Paul Ryan (R-Janesville) is calling for Democrats to delay implementation of the health care law, saying it’s “not ready to be rolled out”. Ryan, a Republican, says “Obamacare” should be delayed while lawmakers work on other important issues, such as the national debt or tax reform. Ryan says the health care law is an entitlement program and will continue to work if the government shuts down. The Congressman also points to immigration reform and the use of resources (oil, natural gas) in the U.S. as points of emphasis.
A Fond du Lac fisherman has quite the fishing story to tell… and has proof. Ray Groff hooked a 47-inch flintlock musket with the anchor of his boat on September 4 in Lake Winnebago. The musket is believed to be dated sometime in the late 17-hundred to early 18-hundreds. Groff says in his 40 years of fishing the southern end of Lake Winnebago, it’s the catch of his life.
