WISCONSIN NEWS ROUND-UP: Suspect in Madison stabbings shot and killed by police
MADISON - Madison Police says a suspect wanted in the stabbing of three people at an apartment complex was shot and seriously wounded by officers.
A spokesman says a dispute with neighbors on Friday afternoon may have led to the stabbings, leaving two dead and a third in stable condition. The incident is still under investigation. Police say the suspect is listed in critical condition.
Additional charges have been filed against a former police officer, accused of child molestation in St. Croix County. 46-year-old Daniel Barber, a former Somerset police officer, is accused of assaulting seven boys… five of them under the age of nine. Prosecutors say Barber used Facebook and Craigslist to offer babysitting services to parents of the victims. Barber is currently free on $75,000 dollar bond pending a court appearance.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is using a mobile education facility to raise awareness to motorcycle safety in the state. May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in Wisconsin. A spokesperson for the department says the 40-foot-long trailer will be at the Slimey Crud Run in Cross Plains on Sunday. The educational facility will offer several activities, including 90-minute introductory motorcycle experience training and touch screen monitors to test safety knowledge. The facility is available from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
