WISCONSIN NEWS ROUND-UP: Two men charged in Glendale' man's death
MILWAUKEE - Two men have been charged in the strangling death of a 65-year-old Glendale man.
Twenty-five-year-old Nicholas Retzlaff and 28-year-old Robert Christophel are accused of burglarizing Peter Holzberger’s home on November 5. Authorities say the two men tied the victim up and hid him in a basement bedroom. A friend of the victim reported him missing on November 10, but was not found until three days later. Both men face first-degree intentional homicide and burglary charges, they are being held in the Milwaukee County Jail.
For the first time since the 2012 presidential race, Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Janesville) made a visit to the Hawkeye State last night. The vice-presidential candidate appeared for a fundraiser and a birthday party for Iowa Governor Terry Brandstad. During the stop, Ryan thanked supporters for their efforts to elect Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. During his 20-minute speech, Ryan criticized “big government” and the roll-out of Obamacare, adding that Republicans should be optimistic in opposing it.
Authorities have identified a woman killed while crossing a street in Eagle River on Friday afternoon. The Vilas County Sheriff’s office says 87-year-old Irma Pitlik was killed when she crossed an intersection and was struck by an incoming vehicle. Authorities are still investigating the crash and are not releasing additional details the driver’s name has not been released.
