MILWAUKEE - Wisconsin native Jordan Zimmermann earned his 13th win of the season, defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 4-1 yesterday.

The Auburndale native pitched six solid innings for the Washington Nationals, allowing no runs on four hits and five strike-outs. Milwaukee’s only run of the night came in the 8th inning, when Jonathan Lucroy sent a solo shot over the center wall. Zimmermann is now 4-0 all-time against his home-state team. On an injury note, Brewers starting pitcher Tom Gorzelanny left the game in the second inning after being hit by a liner. Team officials say he suffered a left elbow contusion and x-rays were negative.

Suspended Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun has been dropped by Nike. The athletic shoes and apparel giant made the announcement yesterday, joining a growing list of sponsors dropping the troubled slugger; including Muscle Milk and Kwik Trip. Braun accepted a season-ending suspension in July for allegedly using performance-enhancing drugs and lying about it.

Wisconsin native Steve Stricker posted a four-under, 67 round yesterday – putting him at a tie for 11th at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational tournament in Akron, Ohio. He picked-up five birdies in the round, before two bogeys on the 13th and 17th holes. Stricker has a lot of work to do if he wants to catch Tiger Woods, the leader of the tournament in two rounds. He trails Woods by 11 strokes.
