GREEN BAY - Over 63,000 Green Bay Packers fans gathered under the lights of Lambeau Field for the annual Family Night scrimmage.

In the first series, quarterback Aaron Rodgers led a 10-play, 80-yard drive – connecting to tight end D.J. Williams for a seven-yard touchdown pass. The spotlight was on rookie running backs Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin, who got a decent number of carries (17 for Lacy, 15 for Franklin). Coaches and teammates have been impressed with Lacy, a second-round draft pick from Alabama. Quarterback B.J. Coleman says Lacy will be “a huge weapon for us (Packers)”.

Former Green Bay Packers linebacker Dave Robinson is now a member of the National Football League’s Hall of Fame. His son, David, accepted the enshrinement yesterday in Canton, Ohio. Robinson was a member of Vince Lombardi’s championship dynasty – three NFL championships, including the first two Super Bowls. He was also named to the All-Decade team of the 1960s. Robinson is the 12th Lombardi-era Packer to make the Hall of Fame.

The Milwaukee Brewers were shut-out by the Washington Nationals last night 3-0. Washington’s Dan Haren threw seven scoreless innings and struck out six Brewers. Donovan Hand got his third loss of the season, giving up three runs on five hits for Milwaukee. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke says the game was filled with wasted opportunities and that they need to figure out a way to “get those guys in”.

Wisconsin native Jordan Niebrugge has advanced into the semifinals of the Western Amateur. The Oklahoma State University student from Mequon got past his college teammate Talor Gooch and Georgia Tech golfer Seth Reeves to advance into today’s semifinal. Just a week ago, Niebrugge won the Public Links National Amateur title and earned an invitation to next year’s Masters, if he’s still Amateur status. Niebrugge will face Sebastian Cappelen, of Arkansas, in the semis.
