WISCONSIN SPORTS ROUND-UP: Brewers, Garza battered by Nationals
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

WASHINGTON D.C. - To say Milwaukee pitcher Matt Garza had a bad day is an understatement.

Garza allowed five runs on five hits in less than an inning of work last night. It was too much for the Brewers, falling to the Washington Nationals 8-3. Ryan Braun hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the first inning debacle. The Brewers finish off its weekend series with the Nats’ this afternoon, with Yovani Gallardo getting the start.

ESPN is reporting that the Milwaukee Bucks will claim former Lakers guard Kendall Marshall off waivers. The 22-year-old former North Carolina player and 12th overall pick in the 2012 draft by the Phoenix Suns was waived by the Lakers on Friday. Kendall averaged eight points and 8.8 rebounds per game last season.

Former Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green and Ken Ruettgers have been inducted into the Packers’ Hall of Fame. Green, a former standout and Nebraska, is the Packers’ all-time rushing leader with 8,322 yards… he also holds several franchise records. Ruettgers was a first-round draft pick in 1989 and started in 140 games through his career. He retired during the Packers 1996 Super Bowl season.
