WISCONSIN SPORTS ROUND-UP: Brewers lose fourth straight contest
CINCINNATI - Pitcher Kyle Lohse allowed four runs and seven hits in five innings, in a 4-2 Milwaukee loss to the Cincinnati Reds last night.
Jonathan Lucroy hit a solo home run in the eighth inning, but it wasn’t enough to come back from a dismal third and fifth inning. The Brewers will look to snap a four-game losing skid against the Reds this afternoon at the Great American Ballpark.
The funeral of former Milwaukee Vincent High School basketball star Destinee Blue will be held on Monday. Blue, who helped lead Vincent to state titles in 2007 and 2008, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Milwaukee last Saturday, was back in town to recover from a knee injury. After graduating from high school, the 25-year-old played center at Cleveland State. She then played for professional teams in Europe. A charity basketball game will also be held on July 15, with proceeds going towards funeral costs.
Cambridge’s Matt Kenseth will start in the sixth spot for tonight’s Coke Zero 400 Sprint Cup race in Daytona. Kenseth finished just behind rival Jimmie Johnson, who took fifth. David Gilliland took the qualifying pole. The race gets underway tonight.
