Badger goaltender Joel Rumpel stopped 28 of 29 shots by the Golden Gophers, completing an impressive 59 of 61 for the series.  Seth Ambroz had the lone goal for the U on a long power play in the second period due to a game misconduct penalty which ejected UW’s Jake McCabe.  However it was Minnesota lone power play goal of the series.

It's the first time since 2004 that the Badgers have swept a top-ranked team. It’s also the first time UW has swept the Golden Gophers in Madison since 1999. Wisconsin’s last sweep of Minnesota came in 2009 in Minneapolis.  The sweep helped UW (16-8-2, 7-4-1-0 Big Ten)  move back into second place in the Big Ten standings just four points behind the Golden Gophers (19-4-5, 8-2-2-0). Wisconsin plays at Ohio State next weekend
