Juniors Ellen Chapman and Deme Morales recorded double-figure kills, leading the University of Wisconsin volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over California in the NCAA Division I tournament (25-19, 25-18, 25-21). Senior Annemarie Hickey led all players with 18 digs, while the team also out-blocked the Golden Bears 9-5. The win sends the Badgers to its first Sweet 16 appearance since 2006, where they will face Florida State in the Champaign, Illinois Regional on Friday.

Nic Kerdelils’s game-winning goal at the 11:52 mark of the third period broke a 3-3 tie and gave the University of Wisconsin men’s hockey team a 4-3 Big Ten win over Penn State Saturday in front of over 10,000 fans at the Kohl Center.  Sean Little and Michael Mersch each had a goal and an assist for the Badgers, who are back over .500 at 7-6-1. UW goalie Joel Rumpel made 27 saves.

The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 90-82. O.J. Mayo led all Bucks with 22 points in the loss. Milwaukee was dominated by Brooklyn center Brook Lopez, who extended his double-digit scoring streak to 37 games with 32 points. Coach Larry Drew says they tried everything to stop Lopez but had no answer. The Bucks now tout the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 4-16.

Frigid temperatures, a bad season and no Aaron Rodgers means it’s easier and more affordable to get a ticket for today’s game with the Atlanta Falcons. Ticket prices are selling for as little as $37 with one ticket broker offering a ticket and three-hour pregame tailgate for $49. Temperatures for today’s game are expected to be in the teens with snow, thanks to a system moving through the state. Despite a 5-6-1 record and an injury-prone year, the Packers have a slim chance of taking the division still but will have to win out the final four games of the season.

Wisconsin-native Steve Stricker shot a two-over-72 in yesterday’s third-round of the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge in California yesterday. The blistery conditions proved quite a challenge for many of the golfers - including tournament leader Tiger Woods, who shot a 72-even on the day. Stricker will have a lot of work to climb the leaderboard at seven-over for the tournament... he is 18 shots back from Woods (11-under).
