WISCONSIN SPORTS ROUNDUP: No state golfers in British Open

For the first time in a while, none of Wisconsin’s P-G-A regulars are golfing in the British Open which began overnight at Muirfield in Scotland. Steve Stricker of Madison turned down the invitation, as he scaled back his schedule this year to do more at home. Stricker – the world’s 10th-ranked golfer – now admits it wasn’t the smartest thing to bypass the year’s third major, but he said he has a legitimate reason for skipping it. He’s celebrating his 20th wedding anniversary this week.
