Wolves snap losing streak with victory over Charlotte
MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota star forward Kevin Love posted 30 points and 18 rebounds as the Timberwolves blasted the Bobcats 102-90 at the Target Center last night.
Nikola Pekovic added 20 points and 11 boards for Minnesota, which had lost four straight. J.J. Barea totaled 12 points and eight assists in the win. Kemba Walker paced the Bobcats with 21 points in defeat. Charlotte has lost 16 straight games and saw its record dip to 3-26.
Minnesota visits Houston tomorrow night. Houston knocked off Oklahoma City last night.
Former T-Wolves player and current Clippers guard Chauncey Billups had successful surgery yesterday on his torn Achilles. The 35-year-old veteran suffered the season-ending injury just over a week ago in the fourth quarter of an overtime win against the Magic. A five-time All-Star and former NBA Finals MVP, Billups averaged 14.9 points, four assists and 2.5 rebounds in 20 starts this season. He played with the Wolves from 2000-2002.
Former Timberwolves assistant coach and current Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau will coach the Eastern Conference at the All-Star Game later this month. Former Wolves point guard and current Oklahoma City head coach Scott Brooks will coach the Western Conference. Minnesota's Kevin Love is a member of the Western Conference's team.
