What Does the Wage Gap Mean to Women Each Year?

• 2,532 Gallons of Gas,

• 14 Months of Rent, or

• Food for 1.8 Years

New data released for Equal Pay Day tomorrow reveal the significant costs of Wisconsin's gender-based wage gap. Women in Wisconsin are paid just 78 cents for every dollar paid to men, amounting to a yearly gap in wages of $10,033.

African American women and Latinas in Wisconsin fare worse, being paid $15,596 and $19,721 less than all men in the state, respectively. With more than 231,700 Wisconsin households headed by women, the new data show that these gaps harm both families and the state economy.

The analysis was conducted by the National Partnership for Women & Families.
