Youth turkey hunt this weekend
Hunters as young as 10 will have a chance to bag a turkey in Wisconsin this weekend. The annual two-day youth hunt takes place Saturday and Sunday.
The purpose is to introduce the pleasures of turkey hunting to young people. Ten-and-11-year-olds can join mentors in the field, even if they don't have hunter safety education yet. But the mentors must stay close to the youngsters.
Those between 12-and-15 can be in the youth hunt if they're with adults, and have completed hunter safety courses. All kids must have valid turkey harvest permits, licenses, and stamps.
