Laughs, lyrics, love color Prescott troupe's version of 'Birdie'

PRESCOTT--Back to the 1950s will go audiences attending the Great River Road Theatre's production of "Bye Bye Birdie," opening in the park across from Prescott Middle School Thursday, July 22.

Attendees will go back to some old-fashioned values and a more innocent time, too. Judy Johnson, who's assistant director (Ken Roen is directing), said the story centers on an Elvis-type character in the '50s. Yet, that character's manager and his secretary are actually the leads.

"There are three love affairs interspersed," Johnson said Thursday about the rather elaborate plot.
