Photography club presenter: ‘Art of Fine Art Print’
John Gregor, acclaimed nature photographer and popular instructor, will give a presentation to the Western Wisconsin Photography Club at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 17 at The Phipps Center for the Arts. His presentation is entitled “The Art of the Fine Art Print.” Some of his recent work, “Views from the North Shore” is currently on exhibit at the Tettagouche State Park visitor’s center and can be seen until March 31.

Gregor has a Masters of Education through St. Scholastica College with an emphasis in photographic literacy, a combined degree of Social Sciences and Fine Art Photography. During his career Gregor has worked on projects funded by the University of St. Thomas, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Nature Conservancy. This work resulted in numerous publications including “Worlds within a World,” 1999 winner of the Minnesota Book Award. Other book projects with title page credit includes “Growing Home; Stories of 32 Ethnic Gardeners,” U of M Press, 2000 (winner of the 2000 American Horticulture Book of the Year Award), “Northland Wildflowers; a guide to the Minnesota Region,” U of M Press, and “Northern Treasure,” the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s 100-year commemorative book. Gregor lives in Two Harbors, Minn., and is probably best known for his extensive work capturing memorable images around the North Shore of Lake Superior.
The club is a group of photography enthusiasts of all ages, abilities and equipment and is a member of the Twin Cities Area Council of Camera Clubs and the North Central Camera Club Council. Meetings are both social and educational and are held on the first Wednesday of every month, 6:30 p.m., at The Phipps Center for the Arts.
