Stagehands Theatre presents Hitchcock’s spy comedy “The 39 Steps”
The Spring Valley Stagehands will present the spy comedy “The 39 Steps” April 1-2, and April 8-9 at 7 p.m. and April 3 and 10 at 2 p.m. at the Spring Valley Stagehands Theatre, S234 McKay Ave., Spring Valley.
“The 39 Steps” is a spy comedy based off of the 1935 Alfred Hitchcock-directed film of the same name. A cast of four actors will perform the roles of over 30 people in the show, playing in black and white, on a black and white set, to bring the show to life as it was in film in 1935.
The cast includes Zach Awsumb (Elmwood) who plays the pretentious hero, Richard Hannay; Haley Graham (Maiden Rock) who plays the three women with whom Richard has romantic entanglements; and Derek Huebel (Spring Valley) and Abbey Graham (Maiden Rock), who play every other character in the show: villains, bystanders, a pilot, a professor, the professor’s wife, a radio announcer, a carnival barker, police officers, underwear salespeople, and many more.
The play is directed by Logan Toftness, a 2009 graduate of River Falls High School and 2013 graduate of UW-Eau Claire.
Tickets are $12/adults, $10/students and seniors. Tickets are available online at www.svstagehands.org or at the door.
