Letter: Who is getting punished, he wonders

Who is getting punished? Our jail in Pierce County is full of people, many of who go to work under the Huber Law, come back at night to sleep, watch TV, get their lunch packed for work the next day, etc.

Who is getting punished?

Our jail in Pierce County is full of people, many of who go to work under the Huber Law, come back at night to sleep, watch TV, get their lunch packed for work the next day, etc. Meanwhile, people are losing their homes or struggling to pay property taxes.

La Crosse County is putting all of its women prisoners on ankle monitors. Why can’t Pierce County put most of their prisoners on monitoring system and house arrest?

Let the prisoners pay for their own lunches and their own place to sleep. If it keeps up the way it is now, taxes could double in the next 10 years.

So I ask again, who is being punished, the people who violate the law or we as taxpayers who have to pay for it?
