It’s easy to grow raspberries and strawberries here in western Wisconsin. To help you learn more, UW-Extension is sponsoring a class on Wednesday, March 5, 6:30–8:30 p.m. at the River Falls Public Library, 140 Union St. in River Falls.
This class will be taught by Dr. Brian Smith, UW-Extension Fruit Specialist. Smith will discuss everything you need to know to grow raspberries and strawberries for home production, as well as how things differ for commercial production. Topics to be covered include: variety selection, cultural requirements, pruning/rejuvenating, and weed, disease and insect issues.
Cost is $5 and pre-registration is required. To register for the class, send a check for $5 payable to UW-Extension to the Pierce County UW-Extension office, P.O. Box 69, 412 W. Kinne St., Ellsworth, WI 54011. Deadline for registration is Friday, Feb. 29.
