Letter: She’s appalled at BC man’s sentence for sex charges

TO THE EDITOR:

I am disgusted to read in your local paper that one of my former classmates from Ellsworth High School has been sentenced to only 30 days jail for sex charges.

I am appalled to find out that he was accused in 2005 and is just now being sentenced and only to 30 days. So for three years this disgusting man has roamed the streets with all of our children at risk, including my own 15-year-old daughter when I recently visited the area and attended the Pierce County Fair last year.

I’m even more sickened to read how it was questionable as to whether or not he should receive jail time. Yes, we all have a clean record until we break a law; at that time, should it even be questionable whether or not he should receive jail time due to his disgusting actions?

Come on Pierce County — this is the year 2008 — take this disgusting crime a little more serious. Will he at least be added to the national sex offender website? This was not stated in the article.

I’m from a very large city, but I still keep up with my hometown happenings, and I can’t get over how lightly this situation has been handled.
