SPRING VALLEY — Mixed Blood Theater’s biography of baseball immortal Jackie Robinson will be presented at the Spring Valley Theater on Saturday, Feb. 23.
The show covers the life and career of the first African-American in major league baseball. It begins at 7:30 p.m.
Set in the Brooklyn Dodgers’ World Series locker room, “Jackie Robinson” is the spellbinding story of a man overcoming life’s obstacles, according to information from the theater. It illuminates not only Robinson’s Dodgers career, but also brings to life his childhood, college years, and Army service—the story of a fiery competitor and courageous individual whose leadership and influence reached far beyond the confines of the baseball diamond.
André Sample, the talented actor featured in Jackie Robinson, has appeared in Mixed Blood productions of “Take Me Out,” “Flags,” “Cut Flowers” and with several other Twin Cities companies. The production is directed by Warren C. Bowles.
Funding for the production comes in part from the Spring Valley Foundation. Tickets are $4 for students and $8 for adults. They will be available at the door.
