MADISON — Ellsworth’s Jens Lantz and Tyler Hunter were top place winners from Pierce County at the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation’s Kids’ Folkstyle State Tournament held at the Alliant Center last weekend.
Lantz won the 67-pound title in his age bracket (born in 1995-96). He defeated Dillon Koenigs 2-0. Hunter was the runner up at 190 pounds in the 1993-94 age group.
Four other Pierce County wrestlers placed in the tournament. Prescott’s Payton Brownell was sixth at 100 pounds in the 1999-2000 age groups. Spring Valley’s Logan Newton also placed sixth at 66 pounds for the 1997-98 age groups. Fellow Spring Valley wrestler Brady Webb took fifth at 85 pounds in 1993-94 age bracket and Prescott’s Matt Pechacek was sixth at 160 pounds in the same age group.
Also, participating in the state tournament from Pierce County were (1999-2000) Matt Peterson, Ellsworth, 54 pounds; Ty Sanford, Prescott, 80 pounds; (1997-98) Remington Schneider, Spring Valley, 75 pounds; Quinton Elliott, Spring Valley 87 pounds; Tristen Frisle, Ellsworth, 95 pounds; Dillon Kimmen, Prescott, 100 pounds (1995-96) Sam Hoopingarner, Prescott, 64 pounds; Brad Cain, Ellsworth, 79 pounds; Troy Urman, Prescott, 85 pounds; Kevin Fesenmaier, Spring Valley, 88 pounds; Zach Newton, Spring Valley, 88 pounds; Henry Holdorf, Ellsworth, 130 pounds; (1993-94) Daniel Langer, Ellsworth, 100 pounds; Roarke Langer, Ellsworth, 105 pounds and Andy Bune, Spring Valley, 135 pounds.
