Video surveillance was posted on the Crime Stoppers Web site, but the video was of the wrong transaction.
The woman shown wasn't breaking the law.
A friend pointed it out to her, she went online and saw herself identified as a crook and immediately called La Crosse police.
Cops say they matched the time stamp on the video with the cash register date and time and chose the wrong picture to post online.
