A man was arrested just before 9 a.m. Friday for shooting three teens to death and wounding another near Niagara in far northeast Wisconsin.
Marinette County Sheriff Jim Kanikula said his officers didn’t know why the suspect approached a group of nine young people, fired shots and walked away without saying a word.
The shooter was 7-10-feet away from one of the victims when he started firing his assault rifle.
Killed were 17-year-old Tiffany Pohlson, 17, Anthony Spigarelli, 18, and 19-year-old Bryan Mort, 19.
Daniel Gordon, 20, survived with minor injuries. The incident occurred about 5:30 yesterday afternoon at the East Kingsford railroad bridge about three miles west of Niagara, close to the Upper Michigan border.
Over 100 law enforcement officers were looking for the suspect overnight and this morning.
Residents were evacuated. Some went to a school shelter, while others stayed at the nearby Country Bar for awhile.
One of the bar’s employees, Linda Kirby, said she saw “wall-to-wall” police on her way to work today and an officer grilled her as to what she was doing. She was opening the bar.
