NOTICE OF REFERENDUM
Town of Martell
September 9th, 2008
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that at an election to be held in the Town of Martell on September 9th, 2008, the following proposed Resolution of the Town Board, will be submitted to a vote of the people:
RESOLUTION FOR REFERENDUM
Whereas, the Town of Martell, Pierce County, Wisconsin, held a Town Board meeting at which it was determined that the Town Board wishes to place a highway spending referendum on the September 9th, 2008 election,
Therefore, the Town Board of Martell does hereby resolve to place the following question on the ballot for the September 9th, 2008 election:
The question will appear on the ballot as follows:
Shall the Town of Martell spend up to $65,000 over $270,000, which is the annual limit of the product of $5,000 multiplied by. the miles of highway under the jurisdiction of the town measured by the most recent highway mileage for the town, as determined under section 86.302 of the Wisconsin Statutes, for the construction, maintenance, and repair of its highways and bridges?
FOR SPENDING AGAINST SPENDING
EXPLANATION
The Town of Martell has an annual highway spending limit of $270,000, which is based on the number of miles of highway that the Town must maintain. A vote "FOR SPENDING" will authorize the Town of Martell to exceed its annual highway spending limit by a total of $65,000. A vote "AGAINST SPENDING" will deny the Town of Martell the authorization to exceed its annual highway spending limit.
