A Kenosha man is in jail this morning (Monday), after he was run over by a police car while allegedly shooting a handgun into a crowd of about 20 people.
Narciso Esquivel, 19, was treated at a hospital for bumps and bruises.
It all started about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, when Kenosha Police were called to investigate a stabbing incident.
The two officers in the squad car were later told that a man with a bloody shirt was outside near the stabbing scene, firing a gun.
Sgt. Hugh Rafferty said the man was shooting toward a van, and then to the crowd which gathered nearby.
Esquivel allegedly shot at the approaching squad car just before the officers pushed him into the front porch of a house.
Rafferty said the man was later pulled from a pile of debris, and a handgun was found nearby.
The van was not hit. And nobody else was said to be hurt.
Esquivel is being held on possible charges of reckless endangerment, possessing of a stolen handgun and criminal damage for the damage to the police car. Police must still decide whether the officers’ use of force will be investigated.
