PRESCOTT — The latest exhibit at the Great River Road Learning Center will feature the works of Jeanette Ahern.

“Art by Jeanette” starts this Sunday with the opening reception and talk scheduled for 2 p.m. at the learning center. The exhibit will run through Dec. 1.

Ahern has been an active painter for the last 45 years, creating art in the Realist tradition. She has painted landscapes, still life and portraits in pastel, oil and watercolor. She chooses the medium that gives the greatest expression and flexibility for the subject matter.

Ahern and her husband live in Plainview, Minn. Before retiring, she taught adult art classes in her studio in Prescott and has conducted Plein-air workshops in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana and Iowa.

Her formal education began when she attended Penn State University. She also studied under professional artists Dimitar Krustev, Robert Brackman, Daniel Green and Foster Caddell.

Her paintings are in private homes and businesses throughout the United States. Her art can be viewed at the SEMVA Gallery in Rochester, Minn.

The learning center is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and 12-5 p.m. Sundays.
