Letter: Money’s reason school referendum failed, she says

I often wonder what color is the sky where our local school board lives? Are they really considering spending money that we don’t have on another referendum that will ultimately fail?

TO THE EDITOR:

I often wonder what color is the sky where our local school board lives?

Are they really considering spending money that we don’t have on another referendum that will ultimately fail?

Mr. Georgakas suggested determining why the last referendum failed. Money. That’s why it failed. The school board keeps asking for that which we don’t have any more of.

You only have to look in this paper’s listings of foreclosures, week after week, month after month, to know that our citizens have run out of money.

Property taxes, by the way, are a big part of this problem. People who are trying to make ends meet cannot afford, nor are they going to vote, to raise taxes.

If the school board is so concerned about “the children,” which is always their mantra, then they should look for ways to decrease spending and learn to live within their means.

Burdening an already over burdened populace isn’t taking care of the kids.
