Man gets year in jail for endangering safety

A Hager City man was sentenced to one year jail Wednesday in Pierce County Circuit Court for recklessly endangering safety.

Howard R. Hanson, 36, was also placed on four years probation by Judge Robert Wing. Wing also granted work release privileges, along with maintaining absolute sobriety and a psychological evaluation.

The charge stems to an incident last October when Pierce County Sheriff’s Dispatch was notified of a one-vehicle rollover on CTH EE, north of Bay City. Upon arrival, sheriff’s officers found Hanson walking in the ditch and stumbling all over the place. Hanson told officers he had been drinking and was involved in the accident. When asked if anyone was with him, Hanson said his wife was and she had been driving. However, he had no idea where she was and thought she might be at their house, so he started walking in that vicinity.

The wife notified dispatch of her location and officers drove to that point. The wife then told officers her side of the story.
