New equipment has been installed to increase production at the Ellsworth Co-op Creamery.
The creamery will be able to process approximately 30 percent more milk with the availability of the Whole Milk UF Filtration equipment, according to CEO/General Manager Paul Bauer. Bauer compared the advancement to putting a turbo charger on a hot rod’s engine.
The improvement affects the product the creamery sells to other businesses, he said Friday. Ninety percent of the plant’s product is in barrels and goes toward processed cheese. It is in demand because of its superior characteristics, high milk quality and good market presence, he said.
