Prairie View students earn medals for reading

On April 9, Prairie View Elementary School held its quarterly Accelerated Reader assembly to recognize students for their reading achievements. Students were recognized in six categories.

On April 9, Prairie View Elementary School held its quarterly Accelerated Reader assembly to recognize students for their reading achievements.

Students were recognized in six categories. Sixty-two students passed 100 percent of the tests they took, while they maintained at least an 80 percent comprehension and met the minimum number of points set by their teachers. Eight students earned 50 points or more during the quarter.

One hundred twelve students earned medals at the end of the second quarter. In order to earn a medal, a student needed to meet three criteria. He or she must be reading at his or her instructional level and have a minimum number of points set by the teachers.

The third criteria involved the student’s comprehension score. Bronze medalists maintained an 80 percent comprehension score or above, silver medalists maintained an 87 percent comprehension score or above and gold medalists maintained a 93 percent comprehension score or above.

Students earning bronze medals were: Lamar Davis, Emily Lofgren, Olivia Bach, Madyson Bignell, Kassie Diercks, Avery Girdeen, Kyle Perkins, Madelyn Schingledecker, Dominic Wilkens, Chloe State, Kaytlyn Ness, Madelynne Paquet, Ashley Theis, Dakota Westberg, Cody Atherton, Conner Ekholm, Andrew Everson, Dalton Huppert, Kyla Ashmore, Nicole Hadler, Maggie Engnes and Noah Whalen.

Students earning silver medals were: Ben Hufnagle, Peyton Anderson, Logan Jay, Steven Johnson, Maya Welsch, Jill Churchill, Nicholas Erickson, Spencer Hardy, Dezmon Letexier, Tristin Conrad, Cody Gipson, Olivia Girdeen, Dylan LaVenture, Molly Magee, Logan Peterson, Sam Roberts, Margaret Urschel, Briann Westerberg, Eva Anderson, Masen Bach, Josh Belter, Coby Ekholm, Isaac Murphy, Jasmine Place, Solomon Whalen, Cole Woodland, Mallory Bleeker, Austin Brock, Tyler Fenner, Allison Hadler, Paige Hansen, Edline Hoffman, Olivia Lynner, Katie Runyon, Katelyn Strusz, Mary Wilkens, Megan Bignell, Jordan Curtis, Chase Gilbertson, Alex Motley, Faith Schutz, Rachael Sullivan, Brad Gutting, Paige Hayes, Nathan Hinrichs, McKynna Lincoln, Carly Raebel, Stephanie Savino, Andrew Wilkens, Gillian Welsch, Joe Wichser, Josie Johnson and Kaden Funk.

The students and staff at Prairie View are very appreciative of the ongoing financial support the parents’ organization provides for the Accelerated Reader Program.
