On April 9, Prairie View Elementary School held its quarterly Accelerated Reader assembly to recognize students for their reading achievements.
Students were recognized in six categories. Sixty-two students passed 100 percent of the tests they took, while they maintained at least an 80 percent comprehension and met the minimum number of points set by their teachers. Eight students earned 50 points or more during the quarter.
One hundred twelve students earned medals at the end of the second quarter. In order to earn a medal, a student needed to meet three criteria. He or she must be reading at his or her instructional level and have a minimum number of points set by the teachers.
The third criteria involved the student’s comprehension score. Bronze medalists maintained an 80 percent comprehension score or above, silver medalists maintained an 87 percent comprehension score or above and gold medalists maintained a 93 percent comprehension score or above.
