Ellsworth softball team gets first win

The Ellsworth High School softball team won its first game of the season Thursday afternoon 10-6 over Baldwin-Woodville.

BALDWIN - The Ellsworth High School softball team won its first game of the season yesterday afternoon 10-6 over Baldwin-Woodville.

The Panthers scored eight runs combined in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 10-1 lead in the balgame. They held off a late Blackhawk rally.

Hallie Hatch was the winning pitcher and EHS' Estelle Jensen was the team's top hitter as she went 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs.

The Panthers' Taylor Nelson also had three hits and scored three times while Miranda Robey went 2-for-4 with two runs. Mariah Diercks and Kayla Christopherson both had RBIs.

EHS is now 1-5 overall and plays in a weekend tournament Saturday at Lake City, Minn.
