The annual American Cancer Society Run/Walk of Pierce County-Ellsworth, benefiting cancer research, education, advocacy and services by the American Cancer Society, is only three months away.
On Saturday, July 25, at 8 a.m., plan to be at the fairgrounds to participate in this event. Jim and Susan Klaas are the Grand Marshals this year.
The committee announces some new ways to raise funds and awareness of the local Run/Walk. In addition to having individuals and teams raise funds for the walk, there will be a booth at the Cheese Curd Festival, June 26-28, where a bucket auction will be held with local prizes, such as a gift certificate from Vino in the Valley. Cancer awareness brochures will also be available.
A pledge-raising goal of $50 is suggested, but all donations are welcome—no matter how small. Also, the registration fee is only $10 (kids 12 and under are free), and it includes a tee shirt. If on a team, turn in the registration to the team captain; if an individual walker, mail it with fee to Kellie Burrows at the American Cancer Society, 2427 N. Hillcrest Parkway, Suite 7, Altoona, WI, 54720.
